AWARDS & REFRESHEMNTS TO FOLLOW

When Donald Ross designed the course,

he made number 5 the "Signature Hole".

This 167 yard (162 forward tees) par 3 has a small green that slopes to the water, and is the favorite of most players. A perfectly placed trap above the green catches a few of us trying to use the hill to roll the ball onto the green. When you get on the green, even a 2 foot putt is a "hold your breath" putt.

------------------------

An interesting note:

This is perhaps the fastest draining course in the country. You can use a power cart within minutes of a rain storm. There is no need to drive along the edges and walk to your ball.

Another interesting note:

The course was laid out so that only one of 9 holes could face the afternoon sun. When you look up at your drive, the sun will not blind you!

Thank you, Donald Ross!

Number 2 above, (Number 5 down by the water). Number 2 is a 337 yard (333 forward tees) par 4. The green is small, and has a slight slope away from you (toward the water). Its surface is hidden from view on the approach shot. It looks like a simple par 4, but those who play the course know that those features justify its ranking as the number 2 handicap hole.

Number 3(above) Par 4 356 yards (275 forward tees)

Not only is it a beautiful hole, it is protected by bunkers on the left-front and on the right-front of the green. This is your chance for a par. Don't blow it by going into a bunker.

Number 4(above) par 4 374 yards (354 forward tees)

This green is completely hidden from view until you get within 40 yards of it. The flag is very tall, giving you the only indicator of how far and what direction to hit. A bunker behind the green will stop balls from rolling into the lake, but an errant "long" ball will get wet. Coming over the hill toward the green is a breathtaking view of Elk Lake, even for those of us who frequently play this course.

Number 8 Par 3 177 yards (105 forward tees)

Elk Lake is in view of every hole! (Look over your left shoulder.)
